Man Charged With Vandalizing Synagogue

A 34-year-old man who allegedly carved an anti-Semitic slur into a door at a synagogue and threatened a man two days later at Palisades Park pleaded not guilty Friday to two felony charges.

Cameron Brunson Blake is charged with one count each of vandalism of religious property — a hate crime — and criminal threats, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Blake is accused of vandalizing the door at the synagogue in the West Los Angeles area on Aug. 10, the District Attorney’s Office said.

Two days later, he allegedly hurled an epithet at a man and his infant daughter in Palisades Park and threatened to injure or kill the man, authorities said.

Blake was arrested Thursday by Los Angeles police and has remained jailed since then on $1 million bail.

He is due back Sept. 24 in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom, when a date is scheduled to be set for a hearing to determine if there is sufficient evidence to require him to stand trial.

If convicted as charged, Blake could face up to six years and eight months in state prison the District Attorney’s Office said.
