A man and woman face multiple felony charges for robbing and stabbing a man in Tustin, according to court records obtained Thursday.
Jesus Daniel Pulido, 27, and Francine Christine Amaya, 29, both of San Bernardino, were arrested Oct. 17 after they were seen in video surveillance using credit cards stolen from the robbery victim, Tustin police alleged.
Pulido is charged with robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, identity theft, car theft and burglary, all felonies, as well as a misdemeanor count of receiving stolen property. He faces sentencing enhancements for the personal use of a deadly weapon, inflicting great bodily injury on the victim and committing a secondary office while out on bail in a previous case.
Amaya is charged with robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, identity theft, car theft, burglary and being an accessory after the fact, all felonies. She is also charged with misdemeanor counts of receiving stolen property, possession of burglary tools and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The two pleaded not guilty on Monday and were ordered to return to court Oct. 29 for a pretrial hearing in the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana.
Officers were called about 11:05 a.m. Oct. 13 to the 15000 block of Williams Street after the victim was robbed, police said.
The victim’s attacker followed him home from Santa Ana and as he entered his apartment, the suspect demanded his wallet, which he handed over. Nevertheless, the suspect stabbed him multiple times and fled in a stolen 1996 GMC pickup truck, police said, adding that first-responders saved the victim’s life.
Pulido and Amaya were accused of using the victim’s credit cards in various shops in the Inland Empire, according to police.
Pulido was on parole and was out of custody on bail for a vehicle pursuit while possessing a loaded gun in San Bernardino County, police alleged.
