A San Bernardino County man was charged Thursday with murdering a convenience store clerk during a robbery in Whittier.
Kevin Hall of Apple Valley, 25, is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday in a Norwalk courtroom on one count of murder and six counts of second-degree robbery, according to Ricardo Santiago of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The murder charges include the special circumstance allegations of murder during the commission of a robbery and murder for financial gain, Santiago said.
Prosecutors will decide later whether to seek the death penalty against Hall, who is accused of killing Maninder Singh, 31, during a robbery Feb. 22 at a 7-Eleven store in the 8400 block of Santa Fe Springs Road.
“Surveillance video showed the suspect had entered the store, demanded money from the clerk and subsequently shot and killed the clerk,” police said.
Detectives said they believed Hall may have been involved in other robberies across Southern California.
One of the robbery charges involves Singh, while the remaining charges involve other alleged victims on Feb. 9 and Feb. 22.
Singh was a married father of two small children, according to one of two GoFundMe pages that have raised more than $98,000 for his family since he was killed.
Hall has remained jailed without bail since his arrest early Tuesday by Whittier police.
