Felony charges were filed Thursday against an accused DUI re-offender who’s accused of severely injuring two men in an alcohol-fueled crash in Long Beach and then fleeing the scene.
Charlette Anne Colton, 50, of Lakewood is set to be arraigned Friday on one felony count each of driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury within 10 years of another DUI offense, driving with a 0.08 percent blood-alcohol content causing injury within 10 years of another DUI offense, and hit-and-run driving resulting in serious injury to another person, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The charges include allegations that Colton was convicted of DUI in 2012, that her blood-alcohol concentration was 0.20 percent or more and that she inflicted great bodily injury.
Colton allegedly crashed her minivan into a car on Tuesday, crushing one victim’s leg and severely injuring a pedestrian on Del Amo Boulevard near Locust Avenue, according to prosecutors.
She allegedly fled the scene and was arrested that afternoon by Long Beach police. She has remained jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail since then, records show.
If convicted as charged, Colton could face up to nine years in state prison, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
