A 30-year-old transient was charged Monday with sexually assaulting a homeless woman in Anaheim.
German Hernandez is accused of attacking the woman about midnight Thursday at Harbor Boulevard and La Palma Avenue, said Anaheim Police Department Sgt. Shane Carringer.
The victim was able to scream for help and a witness heard her screams, Carringer said.
“A police officer quickly got there and located him a block away,” Carringer said.
Hernandez was charged with a felony count of assault with the intent to commit a sexual offense with a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a deadly weapon, according to court records.
Hernandez pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana on Monday and was ordered to return to court Oct. 5 for a pretrial hearing in the North Justice Center in Fullerton.
