A man accused of driving drunk and crashing a PT Cruiser into a Pomona house, killing a woman inside, was ordered Tuesday to remain jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail while awaiting arraignment next month.
Carmelino Oliver Martinez Ordonez, 33, of Pomona, is set to be arraigned Oct. 7 on one felony count of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
The crash was reported about 9:15 p.m. last Thursday at Hamilton Boulevard and Colony Drive. Yolanda Bozonier, 59, who lived in the home, died at the scene, according to the coroner’s office.
According to police, the fatally injured woman was trapped under the PT Cruiser for about 20 minutes.
“The driver was traveling southbound on Hamilton Boulevard at a high rate of speed when (he) lost control and collided into a house,” according to a Pomona police statement which said “it appears alcohol was a factor in this collision.”
Ordonez was arrested by Pomona police shortly after the crash and has remained behind bars since then.
