Felony charges were filed Friday against a Santa Ana boxing club owner who’s accused of molesting two 13-year-old girls.
Edgar Mauricio Rivera, 45, of Riverside, was charged with five counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child younger than 14, according to court records.
Rivera, who’s being held on $500,000 bail, owns So Cal Boxing Academy and coaches boxers there, according to Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna, who said the most recent alleged victim told police the defendant molested her while she was training at his club.
Rivera was arrested in 2017 when another 13-year-old girl alleged he had molested her, but prosecutors declined to file charges then, the corporal said.
According to court records, the alleged molestation of the first girl happened in April 2015, and the most recent victim was allegedly molested last month.
Police suspect there may be other victims and asked anyone with relevant information to call Detective Nick Vega or Officer Matthew Thomas at 714-245-8368 or email nvega@santa-ana.org or mthomas@santa-ana.org.
Orange County Crime Stoppers will accept anonymous tips at 855-TIP-OCCS.
