Felony charges were filed Tuesday against a 29-year-old man accused of stabbing his 88-year-old grandmother in Santa Ana.
Edward Alexander Dominguez is charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and inflicting injury on an elder adult. He also faces sentencing enhancement allegations of attempted premeditated murder, causing great bodily injury on an elder, and the personal use of a deadly weapon.
Dominguez allegedly used two knives in the attack on the victim, who was stabbed about 4:25 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of North Minter Street, according to Santa Ana Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.
It was not known what prompted the attack, he said.
Dominguez fought with someone who intervened to protect the victim and then left the residence, but was arrested nearby a short time later, Bertagna said.
Dominguez’s arraignment was rescheduled for Oct. 30 in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana.
