A San Bernardino County man is set to be arraigned Monday on charges stemming from an alleged hit-and-run DUI crash that killed a 64-year-old man in Pasadena.
Alberto Fernandez, 20, of Victorville, is charged with one felony count each of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated without gross negligence and hit-and-run resulting in death or serious injury to another person, according to Ricardo Santiago of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The crash occurred near the intersection of Orange Grove Boulevard and Marengo Avenue about 9 p.m. Nov. 13. Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene, according to Pasadena police Lt. Marcia Taglioretti.
The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of his family, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Fernandez was detained several hours after the crash in Monrovia by the California Highway Patrol, according to Taglioretti. He was taken into custody early the next morning by Pasadena police and has remained behind bars since then, jail records show.
