A 52-year-old convicted sex offender was charged Wednesday with raping a girl multiple times in Santa Ana.
James Montes, who listed his occupation as chef in jail records, was charged with four counts of rape, three counts of sodomy by force, and three counts of forcible oral copulation of a minor 14 years old or younger, all felonies. The attacks are alleged to have occurred in June 2020 and January 2022.
Montes did not enter a plea at his arraignment Wednesday in the jail courtroom of Santa Ana. The arraignment was rescheduled for Aug. 23 in the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana.
Montes pleaded guilty to assault with the intent to commit a specified felony offense, sexual penetration of an unconscious victim and sexual battery, all felonies, in October 2010.
Santa Ana police and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office did not immediately respond to messages seeking further details.
