A 25-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in Corona and trying to abduct a woman in Riverside may have targeted other victims, whom police Tuesday asked to come forward as the investigation continues.

Roderick Eugene Arline Jr. of Riverside was arrested last month following a joint investigation by the Corona and Riverside police departments.

Arline is charged with rape of a minor, forcible sodomy, oral copulation of a child, kidnapping to commit rape, assault resulting in great bodily injury and attempted kidnapping.

He has denied the charges and is slated to appear for a felony settlement conference on Oct. 2 at the Riverside Hall of Justice. The defendant is being held in lieu of $2.5 million bail at the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta.

According to Corona and Riverside police, on July 21, Arline allegedly lured the 13-year-old girl, identified only as a Riverside resident, into his Mercedes-Benz on Magnolia Avenue and drove her to the area of Rimpau Avenue and Sixth Street in Corona, where he sexually assaulted her for an unspecified period.

He ultimately let the girl go, according to police.

The ensuing investigation led detectives to identify Arline as the alleged perpetrator. Officer Ryan Railsback of the Riverside Police Department said investigators from the agency’s Sexual Assault-Child Abuse Unit were alerted to possible evidence that the defendant was the same man responsible for a failed abduction on the night of July 21 in the area of Jackson Street and Miller Avenue.

Railsback said detectives connected him to that crime, during which Arline allegedly “tried to force the female victim into his black vehicle.”

“The woman was able to escape but was injured,” the police spokesman said.

Her identity was not disclosed.

Arline was taken into custody without incident less than a week later.

Corona and Riverside police investigators believe that he likely targeted other girls and women, who did not contact authorities afterward.

Detectives are urging anyone with information to call 951-353-7213, or 951-739-4880.

Arline has no documented prior felony convictions in Riverside County.
