A convicted felon and his female companion were charged Friday with offenses stemming from a road rage confrontation in downtown Riverside during which shots were fired.
Jahiden Nissi Person and Samiyah Milan Moore, both 21 and of Riverside, were arrested Wednesday following a Riverside Police Department investigation that also led to the arrest of Jeffrey Allen Robinson of Riverside.
Robinson was booked into the Robert Presley Jail on suspicion of gun assault, but he posted a $25,000 bond and was released hours later.
Person is charged with attempted murder, being a felon in possession of a firearm, illegal possession of a weapon, robbery and a sentence-enhancing gun use allegation.
Moore is charged with firearm assault and a sentence-enhancing gun use allegation.
Both she and Person pleaded not guilty during a joint arraignment before Riverside County Superior Court Judge Gary Polk, who scheduled a felony settlement conference for the pair on Dec. 12 at the Riverside Hall of Justice.
Person is being held on $2 million bail at the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta, while Moore is being held on $75,000 bail at the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
Robinson has a tentative arraignment date of March 11.
According to Riverside police Officer Ryan Railsback, at 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 25, the defendants were involved in a traffic conflict in the 3400 block of Sixth Street that led to an altercation.
During the road rage encounter, Person and Robinson allegedly opened fire, apparently at one another.
“No one (was) struck,” Railsback said, adding that all of the parties fled.
He said patrol officers found evidence that gunfire had been exchanged and turned the mater over to detectives, who soon identified the alleged belligerents, resulting in search warrants being obtained and served Wednesday at properties on Magnolia Avenue and Felspar Street.
The defendants were taken into custody without incident.
Railsback alleged that during the investigation, detectives turned up evidence linking Person to an armed robbery at an AutoZone in the 1900 block of University Avenue on Nov. 7.
The defendant has a prior felony conviction in another jurisdiction that wasn’t listed in court papers.
Neither Moore or Robinson has priors.
