A 29-year-old man pleaded not guilty Friday to taking lewd photos of a woman and a 15-year-old girl wearing skirts at a Cypress department store.
Jorge Anthony Ibarra Jr. was charged with two misdemeanor counts of using a concealed device to record another without their consent with a sentencing enhancement allegation of doing so for the purpose of his sexual gratification.
Police were called just after 8 p.m., Sunday, about a suspect taking the surreptitious photos at a Target store at 6935 Katella Ave., Cypress police Sgt. Robert Cote said. After the teen’s father confronted him, he allegedly fled the store, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Ibarra was also accused of trying to use his cell phone to take photos of a 22-year-old woman, prosecutors said.
Ibarra was identified as a suspect and was arrested Wednesday, Cote said.
Police suspect he took the same types of photos at a Target store at 20200 Bloomfield Ave. in Cerritos, Cote said.
Ibarra was ordered to return to court Aug. 10 for a pretrial hearing. He was ordered held on $15,000 bail.
If convicted at trial he could face up to a year in jail and have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
