A 35-year-old man was charged Tuesday with fatally stabbing a neighbor who tried to stop the defendant from attacking his roommate in Westminster.
Isaias Saquic-Saquic was charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder with sentencing enhancements for the personal use of a deadly weapon.
Saquic-Saquic is accused of killing 48-year-old Alvaro Martin-Perez of Westminster. Police were dispatched at about 1 p.m. Friday to an apartment complex in the 7300 block of 21st Street regarding the stabbing. When officers arrived, residents were holding down the defendant, police said.
An argument the defendant was having with one of his roommates escalated into a physical fight that led to Saquic-Saquic stabbing his roommate multiple times, police alleged. That victim was rushed to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
During the dispute, Martin-Perez stepped up to help the defendant’s roommate outside the apartment and Martin-Perez sustained fatal wounds, police said.
