A 35-year-old Riverside man was charged Tuesday with driving drunk and slamming into a Garden Grove home, killing a woman inside.
Jadier E. Salazarmontano was charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol content above the legal limit of 0.08% or more causing injury, and driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury, all felonies.
The defendant also faces sentencing enhancements for fleeing the scene of a vehicular manslaughter and inflicting great bodily injury on the victim.
Salazarmontano crashed a 2019 Toyota Camry into a residence in the 11800 block of Magnolia Street about 1:55 a.m. Sunday, according to police. The victim was identified as 40-year-old Janet Carrillo.
Police received multiple calls of a hit-and-run, and when officers arrived, witnesses pointed to the suspect, who tried to leave the scene but was arrested without incident, police said.
Carrillo was trapped by the vehicle that crashed into her home and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
