A 36-year-old convicted sex offender was charged Tuesday with indecent exposure in Huntington Beach.
Dillon Eugene Johnstone was charged with a felony count of indecent exposure. The alleged flashing happened on Saturday, just three days after he was released from jail for credit for time served for an assault with a deadly weapon conviction, according to court records.
Johnstone has multiple prior convictions for sex crimes and flashing, according to court records.
Johnstone pleaded guilty Sept. 5 to a misdemeanor count of assault with a deadly weapon. Johnstone approached a diner at an Arby’s restaurant in Huntington Beach hollering about the Muslim militant group al-Qaida on Jan. 19, according to court records.
Johnston accused the diner of “killing his staff sergeant,” according to testimony at his preliminary hearing. He swung a four-foot wooden pole at the victim, nearly striking him, according to court records.
Johnstone pleaded guilty May 11, 2017, to indecent exposure with a prior conviction for the same charge. He was sentenced to 16 months in prison.
Johnstone pleaded guilty Oct. 7, 2015, to annoying or molesting a child and indecent exposure and was sentenced to 334 days in jail, according to court records. He served an additional 210 days in jail after violating terms of his probation, according to court records.
