A 19-year-old Corona man accused of fatally stabbing his father during a confrontation at the victim’s house was charged Thursday with murder.
Mark Carreon Pagay was arrested Tuesday after the alleged attack on 54-year-old Roy Pagay in the 1700 block of Camino Largo Street, near Via Zumaya Street, on the southeastern edge of Corona.
Along with murder, Pagay is charged with a sentence-enhancing allegation of using a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony.
He’s being held in lieu of $1 million bail at the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside and was slated to make his initial court appearance Thursday afternoon at the Riverside Hall of Justice.
According to Corona Police Sgt. Chad Fountain, the deadly confrontation occurred about 9:20 a.m. Tuesday.
Fountain said Mark Pagay armed himself with a large knife and plunged it into his father, but there was no word on the circumstances behind the stabbing.
Officers were summoned by witnesses and found the elder Pagay gravely wounded. Fountain said the victim was taken to Riverside Community Hospital, where he died three hours later.
The defendant was questioned by detectives and taken into custody without a struggle.
He has no documented prior felony convictions in Riverside County.
