A man and woman suspected of robbing a business in Thousand Palms were arrested in Indio after they led deputies on a chase and an investigation determined the man may be responsible for at least 10 robberies in the Coachella Valley in the past two months, authorities said Saturday.
Deputies responded to a report of an armed robbery at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at a business in the 72-400 block of Ramon Road where a man entered the business with a firearm and took an undisclosed amount of money, according to Sgt. Alan Northrup of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies spotted the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop it, but the driver fled eastbound on Interstate 10 and exited at Jefferson Street in Indio and drove through multiple streets before stopping the vehicle in the area of Vargas Road and Capricorn Avenue and surrendered, Northrup said.
The driver, Guillermina DeLara, 47, of Indio, was arrested for robbery and felony evading and the passenger, Javier Taylor, 34, a transient, was arrested for robbery, Northrup said.
After a subsequent investigation, Taylor was charged with four robberies in Coachella, two in La Quinta and four in Indio during the months of September and October, Northrup said.
