Criminal charges were filed Friday against a man accused of stabbing a 20-year-old Cal State Fullerton student while she was inside a parking structure near the campus.
Luis Eduardo Munoz, 24, of Anaheim is accused of false imprisonment, a felony, and a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest, with sentencing enhancement allegations of inflicting great bodily injury and the personal use of a deadly weapon.
Munoz, who’s being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond, pleaded not guilty and was ordered to return to court for a pretrial hearing on Nov. 13.
Munoz allegedly stabbed the student just before 1 p.m. Wednesday inside a parking structure in the 2800 hundred block of North Brea Boulevard, Lt. Jon Radus said. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Munoz was arrested about two hours later, following an intense search that forced precautionary lockdowns at Beechwood Elementary School at 780 Beechwood Ave., and at the EV Free Church in the 2800 block of North Brea Boulevard.
The motive for the attack was unclear as the suspect and victim did not know each other, Radus said.
Court records show Munoz pleaded guilty Oct. 5 to giving a false identification to a Fullerton officer on Oct. 2. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail and was released on Oct. 6.
