A 23-year-old woman accused with a teenage boy of roughing up a Hemet man and stealing his mobile phone was charged Monday with robbery.

Sharice Tashay Williams of Hemet was arrested with the juvenile, whose identity was not released, on Thursday morning following a Hemet police investigation.

Williams is being held in lieu of $35,000 bail at the Smith Correctional Facility and is slated to make her initial court appearance Monday afternoon at the nearby Banning Justice Center.

The boy’s case was referred to juvenile dependency court. He’s being held at Riverside Juvenile Hall.

According to Hemet police Lt. Nate Miller, the robbery happened about 9 a.m. Thursday in the 100 block of South Buena Vista Street, near Florida Avenue.

Miller said the victim, whose name was not disclosed, was walking on the sidewalk when Williams and the boy allegedly confronted him on bicycles. The defendant and her cohort allegedly punched the victim in the face and ripped his mobile phone out of his hand, then rode away.

The man, who suffered minor injuries but did not require hospitalization, asked witnesses to call 911, and officers arrived moments later, obtaining a description of his assailants, Miller said.

A patrolman found Williams and the youth loitering near the intersection of Florida and Ramona Street, where both were taken into custody without a struggle, the lieutenant said.

The phone was seized and returned to the victim, Miller said.

Williams has no documented prior convictions in Riverside County. No information was available regarding the teen.
