A murder charge was filed Wednesday against a convicted felon accused of fatally beating a 23-year-old woman inside his Moreno Valley residence last week.
Ricardo Rivera, 23, is charged in the death last Thursday night of Ashley Brosious of Moreno Valley.
Rivera, who is being held in lieu of $1 million bail at the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside, is slated to make his initial court appearance Wednesday afternoon at the Riverside Hall of Justice.
According to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Ben Ramirez, deputies were sent to the defendant’s house in the 23100 block of Denver Court, near Adeline Avenue, about 5 p.m. Thursday to investigate reports of a woman in need of medical aid.
“Upon arrival, (deputies) located a deceased female with obvious signs of trauma,” Ramirez said.
He said Rivera was in the residence and was detained for questioning, culminating in his arrest a few hours later.
The relationship between the probationer and victim was not disclosed, nor was a possible motive for the attack.
According to court records, the defendant has a prior conviction for domestic violence. The victim in that 2017 case was not Brosious, records showed.
