A 25-year-old man was facing arson charges Monday following his arrest in connection with several intentionally set trash and vegetation fires in the North Hollywood area.
Brandun Clemons of North Hollywood, was arrested on Oct. 24 and was being held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in downtown Los Angeles in lieu of $1.785 million bail. He is next due in court on Nov. 17 in Van Nuys, according to sheriff’s jail records.
The fires were set from late-September to mid-October, according to Peter Sanders of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Arson investigators interviewed numerous residents and developed a concise suspect description, Sanders said.
“Subsequently, investigators were able to obtain surveillance and canvas the area for an individual matching the description,” he said.
Clemons, who lives near where the fires were set, has been charged by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office with four felony counts of arson of property and one count of aggravated arson, Sanders said.
The fires are not believed connected to fires allegedly set in North Hollywood by suspect Angela McWhirter, who has also been arrested.
