A 32-year-old transient faces charges of breaking into two Garden Grove businesses just a month after pleading guilty to drug possession.
Marwan Maher Alrabayah was charged Friday with a count of burglary and a count of attempted burglary, both felonies, as well as a misdemeanor count of possession of burglary tools. He pleaded not guilty Friday and was scheduled to return to court May 20 for a pretrial hearing in the West Justice Center in Westminster.
Alrabayah pleaded guilty April 2 to a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance and was immediately sentenced to 10 days in jail, which he had already had credit for serving by the time he entered the plea.
Police were called to the Golden Sea Restaurant at 9802 Katella Ave. about 3:20 a.m. Thursday regarding a break-in. The owner, who was at home monitoring the burglary from surveillance cameras, told police the suspect was hiding in a trash bin, where he was later arrested with a pry bar on him, police said.
Alrabayah was also charged with burglarizing the Half Time Restaurant at 13187 Brookhurst St., Garden Grove on May 6.
Police suspect him in several other burglaries, including three on Wednesday, police said.
