A 31-year-old man Thursday was charged with several felonies related to an alleged crime spree over two days in Anaheim.

Jesus Valdovinosotero was charged with single counts each of carjacking, assault with a deadly weapon, grand theft auto and car theft with a prior conviction, as well as two counts each of robbery and evading police-reckless driving, all felonies.

Valdovinosotero was arrested just before 9 p.m. Tuesday, following a high-speed pursuit in a stolen Nissan Altima from Palm Lane and Guinida Aenue, Anaheim police Sgt. Daron Wyatt said.

The defendant is accused of stealing a Ford Expedition about 6 a.m. Sunday from a gas station parking lot in the 1200 block of South Harbor Boulevard, Wyatt said.

A gas station employee left the car running and was injured when she tried to stop the suspect from stealing the car, he said.

Valdovinosotero left that stolen car in a parking lot of an Arco gas station in the 1000 block of West Ball Road just after 2 a.m. Monday before taking the Nissan Altima, Wyatt alleged.

The Altima had been left running at a gas pump while the owner dashed into the store, Wyatt said.

About 12 hours later, police tried to stop the Nissan Altima near Lincoln Avenue and State College Boulevard, but the driver led police on a high speed pursuit that involved driving into oncoming traffic, Wyatt said, prompting police to stop the chase because it got so dangerous.

Valdovinosotero is accused of robbing a convenience store in the 100 block of West Ball Road about 1 p.m. Tuesday, Wyatt said.

The defendant took about $100 from the cash register before fleeing, Wyatt alleged.

About 7 p.m. Tuesday he allegedly robbed a gas station in the 2100 block of South Harbor Boulevard and got away with about $400 in cash, Wyatt said.

Police again tried to stop the stolen Nissan Altima about 8:40 p.m. Tuesday near Palm Lane and Guinida Avenue, but the driver again fled, Wyatt said.

Police who managed to halt the chase in the 100 block of North Trevor Street had to use beanbag rounds to subdue the defendant, Wyatt said.
