A 39-year-old man charged with sexually assaulting two girls over a period of several years, starting when they were 6 and 8 years old, is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.
Alfredo Mendozaheredia, who was arrested Thursday and is being held without bail, listed his occupation as plumber, according to jail records.
The defendant befriended three families all living together in a house, and met the girls there, according to Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna. He also moved into the residence.
One of the girls, who alleged she was sexually assaulted starting in 2011 when she was 6 and continuing until she was 11, told police he would pick her up at school and take her various places, Bertagna said.
The other girl alleged he began molesting her when she was 8 and continued until she was 13, on “almost a nightly basis,” Bertagna said.
He is scheduled to be arraigned on five counts of committing forcible lewd acts on a child, three counts of lewd acts on a child younger than 14, and one count each of an attempted lewd act on a child younger than 14 and aggravated sexual assault of a child, with a sentence-enhancing allegation for multiple victims.
