Prosecutors filed a murder charge Thursday for a woman accused of fatally shooting a man in a Stanton motel in August.
Amy Lynn Black, 36, also faces a sentencing-enhancement allegation of discharging a firearm causing death. She was arrested Tuesday and is being held on $1 million bail.
She and Joel Brandon Martinez, 37, are accused of killing Carlos Beltran Aguilar, 35, on the afternoon of Aug. 26 in the Villa Motel, 11672 Beach Blvd.
Authorities arrested Martinez Sept. 8 in Bakersfield and charged him with murder, with a special circumstances allegation of gang activity, as well as participating in criminal street gang activity, with sentencing-enhancement allegations of gang activity and discharging a firearm causing death.
He has a prior criminal history of gang activity. He pleaded guilty in July 2003 to possession of an assault weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, and street terrorism — all felonies — and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. In June 2006, he pleaded guilty to possession of drugs with the intent to sell, possession of a firearm by a felon and participating in gang activity.
Orange County sheriff’s Sgt. Joses Walehwa declined to say what prompted the shooting or what relationship the defendants had with the victim, if any.
