Three men remained behind bars Thursday on charges stemming from a bar battle in Fullerton last week that left a victim hospitalized in serious condition.
Trevor Poe of Corona, 21, Frank Renteria Jr. of Anaheim, 23, and Pedro Cuevas Jr. of Anaheim, 22, were charged Tuesday.
Renteria is charged with assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury and battery with serious bodily injury, both felonies. He also faces a sentencing enhancement for inflicting great bodily injury on a victim.
Cuevas is charged with two counts of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, a count of battery with serious bodily injury, all felonies, and a misdemeanor count of battery. He also faces a sentencing enhancement for inflicting great bodily injury on a victim.
Poe is charged with a felony count of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury.
All three pleaded not guilty Tuesday and were ordered to return to court Monday for a pretrial hearing in the North Justice Center in Fullerton.
The victim, a man in his 20s whose name was not released, was punched and hit his head in the scrum, landing him in a hospital in serious condition, police said.
Police were summoned to the bar fight about 2 a.m. on Nov. 27 outside of Matador Cantina, 111 N. Harbor Blvd.
The victim was found on the ground near the bar. At the time he was “responsive and speaking” and appeared to have a minor head wound, but he was taken to an area hospital, where he was diagnosed with a massive brain injury, police said.
Police declined to discuss what provoked the fight.
Two other men who were injured provided descriptions of the suspects.
The three defendants are being held on $500,000 bail.
